Week 4 Newsletter July 8, 2010

HOT… HOT...HOT…

What’s Growing Today?

Things are growing, although I wish it would rain. Not as much as last year, but just every night after dark – is that too much to ask for???

Peas are here! YAY! Shell peas and sugar snap – both extremely delicious, but I am biased. The green and purple beans should be ready in the next week or two. There are tomatoes coming, but still as green as the weeds as of yet.

I thinned the purple carrots and threw them in your baskets along with a purple baby onion, and some oregano – I was day dreaming about beef stew while I was tying them together. Maybe a good idea for dinner, if this muggy weather ever breaks…

2. Place snap peas on baking pan, drizzle with oil and garlic to coat, spread in single layer.

3. Broil peas until tender, 5 minutes.

4. Meanwhile, mix together remaining ingredients in a bowl. When peas are done, toss immediately with sauce and serve.
